The Unsoul Shoe

Who Invented Shoe

* J.E Matzeliger was the inventer of the shoe.

He obtained a patent for
His invention in 1883.

History

Footwear has a history which goes back many thousands of years, and has long been an article of prestige for people in different societies. The earliest footwear, probably made of plaited grass or rawhide held to the foot with thongs was undoubtedly born of the necessity to provide some protection when moving over rough terrain in varying weather conditions.

Scientists estimate the first shoes were made from animal skins during the Ice Age (5000,000 years ago). The biggest find of shoes from this period is thought to date back to 8000 BC and belonged to Native Americans in Missouri. Primitive shoes dating back to 3300 BC were discovered in the French Alps.

Ancient Romans devised military style thongs called ‘caligae’, which enabled their legions to travel the empire on foot. The caligae was a sturdy thick-soled heavy leather sandal. When victorious soldiers returned from war they frequently substituted the bronze nails, which held the caligae together with gold and silver tacks.
Even in Ancient China during 2nd century BC, shoes were a sign of status. Peasants wore straw sandals and aristocrats wore turquoise coloured fine cloth slippers sometimes made of silk. Also it was a common practice for the women to bind their feet in small shoes to make them real small. Although the practice was very painful, bound feet were a sign of beauty in ancient China.

In India too, we find many references to simple footwear in the oldest of epics, the Ramayana. Lord Rama’s wooden sandals are mentioned prominently but they seemed to have been simple things. A flat wooden base with a toe hold sticking out, what is commonly called a khadau. References to Gautama Buddha also mention him taking off his sandals before leaving behind the life of a prince. That was 2500 years ago, in the fifth century BC

Different Types Of Shoes

1.Athletic Shoes

Athletic shoes are specifically designed to be worn for participating in various sports. Since frictionbetween the foot and the ground is an important force in most sports.

The earliest rubber-soled athletic shoes date back to 1876 in the United Kingdom, when the New Liverpool Rubber Company made plimsolls, or sandshoes, designed for the sport of croquet. Similar rubber-soled shoes were made in 1892 in the United States by Humphrey O'Sullivan, based on Charles Goodyear's technology.

While athletic shoes date back to the mid 19th century were track spikes — leather shoes with metal cleats on the soles to provide increased friction during running. They were developed by J.W. Foster & Sons, which later become known as Reebok. By the end of the 19th century, Spaldingalso manufactured these shoes as well. Adidasstarted selling shoes with track spikes in them for running and soccer in 1925.

2. Basketball Shoes

Basketball Shoes were developed by Chuck Taylor, and are popularly known as Chuck Taylor All-Stars. These shoes, first sold in 1917, are double-layer canvas shoes with rubber soles and toe caps, and a high heel (known as a "high top") for added support.
In 1969, Taylor was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in recognition of this development, and in the 1970s, other shoe manufacturers, such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok, and others began imitating this style of athletic shoe.

In April 1985, Nike introduced its own brand of basketball shoe which would become popular in its own right, the Air Jordan, named after the then-rookie Chicago Bulls basketball player, Michael Jordan. The Air Jordan line of shoes sold $100 million in their first year.

3.Boots

A boot is a special type of shoe which covers the foot and the ankle and extends up the leg, sometimes as far as the knee. They are typically made of leather or rubber, although they may be made from a variety of different materials. Boots are worn both for their functionality — protecting the foot and leg from water, snow, mud or hazards.

Cowboy boots are a specific style of riding bootwhich combines function with fashion. They became popular among cowboys in the western United States during the 19th century. Traditional cowboy boots have a Cuban heel, rounded to pointed toe, high shaft, and, traditionally, no lacing. They are normally made from cowhide leather but may be made from more exotic skins such as ostrichanaconda, or elephant skins.

Boots are designed to withstand heavy wear to protect the wearer and provide good tractionThey may be used for uniforms of the police or military, as well as for protection in industrial settings such as miningand construction

4. Casual Shoes

Casual shoes are characterized by smooth and supple leather uppers, leather soles, and narrow sleek figure. Casual shoes are characterized by sturdy leather uppers, non-leather outsoles, and wide profile.
Some designs of dress shoes can be worn by either gender. The majority of dress shoes have an upper covering, commonly made of leather, enclosing most of the lower foot, but not covering the ankles. This upper part of the shoe is often made without apertures or openings, but may also be made with openings or even itself consist of a series of straps, e.g. an open toe featured in women's shoes.
4. Oxfords
In the UK, they first became really popular in the late 1800s, before their appeal spread to America. By 1910, anyone who was anyone was wearing lace-up Oxford shoes, and the 1920s saw men beginning to wear two-toned Oxfords, for a sporty look.
True to its name, the shoe was originally worn by students at Oxford University, and as the style became increasingly popular, modern young people – both men and women – found Oxfords to be comfortable, smart and fashionable; three of the main reasons they are still a go-to shoe today.
Some claim that the Oxford shoe originated from Ireland and Scotland. Even today, cap-toe Oxfords are referred to as ‘Balmorals’, after Balmoral Castle. In the United States, ‘Balmoral’ is often synonymous with ‘Oxford’, whereas in the UK the Balmoral is an Oxford with no seams.

Values Learned From Shoes

* No matter how much expensive a shoe is but it is always down to earth.
* A shoe never discriminate it's owner on the basis of colour, caste, sex and religion etc.
* A new pair of shoes always take some time to adjust according to our feet shape. So likewise we must always learn to adjust in every situation of our LIFE.

CONCLUSION

The invention of shoes was a great and an useful invention at helped to change the standard of living of today's generation.
And as time passes the technology and quality of shoes goes on improving .

THANK YOU ☺️
